Alright, the debut of Mayhem Media will be dedicated to what else? The Mayhem Festival! In Chula Vista, CA, rockers and metal heads joined again to worship all that is hardcore. The headliner, Slipknot, absolutely tore it up. With a promise of a new album coming out August 26th, they also graced my fellow maggots with one of those new songs. It was spectacular and any Slipknot fan should be head-banging in no time. With a nine member crew on stage, they never cease to amaze me.
Disturbed also did an excellent job of warming up the crowd and could have held the concert on their own if they had to. I thought they were kind of on the way out, but they have rekindled my interest with there somewhat newest CD that had "Inside the Fire" on it. I was blown away by their performance and got kind of depressed after finding out what I had missed and immediately went out to get it the next day.
And what to say about Dragonforce? THEY FREAKIN' RULE! Sam and Herman have either sold their souls to devil or have god-like powers to be able to play insanely fast solos while having fun in their own right. Yes, Guitar Hero may have been their claim to fame, but they have so much more aside from "Through the Fire and the Flames". Look them up, check them out, and THEN come tell me if you like them or not. Until then, your voice doesn't need to be heard.
And Mastodon... um... maybe you're just not my style. Sorry. I'll support you in some other way.
